Dimitris Papageorgiou conducts research on urban youth subcultures (among them football fans), using the theoretical scope of performance studies. He combines this theoretical approach with actors’ network theory and has completed research in the area of folk music cultures and folk tradition in Northern Aegean territory, Greece. His research interests also included digital cultures and subcultures constructed in the substratum of the ICT networks expanding globally. The concepts of identity, culture, community are emphatically interconnected with the communicative aspect of the relevant practices. He extends his theoretical search in the field of systems theory and specifically in the communicative systems which ignite, form (and transform) social action.
